NEXII : NEXII BLOG : Buckminster Fuller Challenge Nexii S In The Running

Nexii has taken on the Buckminster Fuller Challenge and is in the running for $100,000 for the submission of its design of a new capital market infrastructure to support impact investment capital flows globally.

Cape Town, South Africa-February 7, 2012- Nexii is proud to announce that it has taken on the Buckminster Fuller Challenge and its entry will be published in the Buckmister Fuller Challenge Idea Index (http://challenge.bfi.org/ideaindex) on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.

Named "Socially-Responsible Design's Highest Award" by Metropolis Magazine, the Challenge is an annual international prize program that awards $100,000 to support the development and implementation of a solution that has significant potential to solve humanity’s most pressing problems.

“Buckminster Fuller was a pioneer in global whole systems thinking with a bold and visionary commitment to finding out what he could contribute ‘to changing the world and benefiting all humanity’,” says Nexii’s founder Tamzin Ractliffe.

Ractliffe continues, “Fuller recognised that ‘you never change things by fighting the existing reality’ but rather focus energy on building ‘a new model that makes the existing model obsolete’. This understanding and commitment mirrors Nexii’s raison d’ĂȘtre. It has informed our approach every step of the way in our search to establish a new way of doing things that is regionally specific yet globally applicable, and that presents a truly comprehensive, anticipatory, integrated approach to solving some of the world's most complex problems.”

Nexii is an impact investment services advisory and consulting company that builds the bridges to connect impact investors to investment opportunities in meaningful world-changing initiatives.

Nexii has established the world’s first publically regulated social stock exchange board for high impact investments with the Stock Exchange of Mauritius, as well as regulated platforms for private investment in unlisted high impact securities. These platforms are supported by regulated electronic settlement and clearing systems with open access information beyond accredited investors only.

“We have been energized by Buckminster Fuller’s journey and are honored to have been selected as finalists in the challenge to create a new, collaborative model to provide meaningful and sustainable solutions to the challenges we are facing as a connected world today,” says Nexii’s Global Relationship Manager, Justine Raschio. She explains further, “Like Fuller, we hope that the Nexii model will revolutionise capital markets to make them work for all.”

“We look forward to an engaging review process, and should our project win, we plan to leverage the $100,000 to build on our initial achievements by continuing to integrate intermediaries operating globally, provide ongoing support to ensure the successful listing and launch of our regulated exchange board and platforms, and expand the connections between those seeking to find and fund solutions and those providing them,” says Raschio. “We encourage the global community to participate in our project by joining Buckminster Fuller Institute’s online community and submitting your comments on our page.”

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Buckminster Fuller Challenge review process and expect to be a serious contender for the award,” concludes Ractliffe. “Winning the Challenge would be a tremendous honor, but we are also very excited about the opportunity to become part of a network that is advancing and accelerating the practice of comprehensive, whole systems thinking and design to develop the kind of high impact global solutions we so desperately need.”
